Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar and Sen. Pat Stefano have announced that Somerset County will benefit from over $1 million in state grants recently approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). These funds are intended to enhance infrastructure and safety projects in the region.
Metzgar expressed optimism about the impact of these investments, stating, "These projects are a great step to ensuring the well-being of Somerset County residents is protected. I’m grateful to see these investments made into our communities so people can enjoy work and leisure activities."
Stefano also highlighted the benefits of the grants, noting, "I’m proud to see this funding go toward projects that are improving infrastructure and enhancing safety in our communities. By investing in these projects, we are strengthening our communities, encouraging local economic growth and making our neighborhoods more walkable and vibrant, thus enhancing the quality of life throughout Somerset County."
The CFA has designated $842,510 to Berlin Borough for the final phase of sidewalk rehabilitation along Main Street. Additionally, Jennerstown Borough has been allocated $245,607 for streetscape and walkway improvements.
These grants are funded by the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which is overseen by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The fund's objective is to support economic development and maintain a dependable transportation system across the Commonwealth.
