State Representative Charity Grimm Krupa announced that the East End United Community Center in Uniontown has secured a grant nearing $500,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This funding arrives as part of the 21st Century Community Learning Center grants, which aim to support the development of community learning centers offering diverse academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment activities for students and their families. These centers are required to provide various activities to complement traditional academic programs and deliver educational services to families.

"PDE received a record number of applicants for this grant," noted Grimm Krupa. "The fact that East End United Community Center has been selected goes to show how important it is to our community. Between the daycare, educational programs, food assistance, and outreach efforts, East End is already doing great work. This funding will ensure they can help even more students and their families."

The Pennsylvania Department of Education plans to administer these grants across three separate cohorts, with each grant being awarded for a period of five years. Continued funding for these projects is reliant on federal government allocations and satisfactory performance outcomes.
