Rep. Ryan Warner and Sen. Pat Stefano have announced the allocation of over $2.44 million in state grants to various municipalities and a school district within Fayette County's 52nd Legislative District.
“These grants represent a vital investment in our communities and our citizens here in Fayette County,” said Rep. Warner. He emphasized his commitment to advocating for financial support to improve local infrastructure, roads, facilities, and services.
Sen. Stefano remarked on the importance of these funds for equipment upgrades that enhance municipal operations and public safety. “Public safety is paramount – so whether it’s a maintenance vehicle or a necessary update to a school building, we must stay dedicated to keeping residents safe," he stated.
The funding comes from the Local Share Account program supported by state gaming revenues. The grants include:
- Bullskin Township received $102,300 for a mini excavator.
- Connellsville City was awarded $213,000 for police department equipment.
- Connellsville Township obtained $36,500 for culvert replacement on Casparis Road and an additional $65,000 for public works garage roof replacement.
- Dawson Borough secured $43,000 for storm piping maintenance.
- Dunbar Borough received $125,000 for road maintenance equipment.
- Dunbar Township got $250,000 to construct an environmentally compliant salt shed.
- Franklin Township was granted $185,000 for road maintenance machinery.
- Lower Tyrone Township received $150,000 for municipal equipment upgrades.
- Perry Township was allocated $182,000 for a wheel loader purchase.
- Perryopolis Borough got $195,000 for community development planning.
- Redstone Township received $113,547 for a new dump truck with spreader capabilities.
- Springfield Township was granted $156,000 for road maintenance tools including tractors and skid loaders.
- Stewart Township secured $129,000 for a new truck equipped with necessary attachments.
Additionally, Frazier Area School District will benefit from a separate grant of $500,000 through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program. This will fund replacements of doors and windows as well as install an HVAC system at the middle/high school.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority gave final approval to these grants during its Tuesday meeting.
