State Senator Pat Stefano announced the allocation of nearly $3.3 million in grants to Somerset County, awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The funds aim to enhance public safety and quality of life within the county.

Senator Stefano expressed his satisfaction with the grant distribution, stating, "I’m pleased to see this funding going back into Somerset County to improve safety and overall quality of life. Public safety is paramount – so whether it’s maintenance vehicles or necessary school building improvements, we must remain dedicated to protecting residents and investing in the safety of generations to come."

The initial set of grants comes from the CFA's Local Share Account (LSA) Program. This program supports projects that serve public interest, community improvement, and economic development using revenue generated from casinos. Stefano acknowledged the importance of these grants: "I’m grateful to see this funding go toward essential equipment and infrastructure improvements that will expand our municipalities’ ability to operate more effectively and efficiently. I applaud the local leaders and organizations that applied for these grants on their proactive approach to keeping our communities safe."

Additionally, two grants were issued through the CFA's Public School Facilities Improvement Grant (PSFIG) Program. This initiative provides financial support for facility improvement projects in public school districts as well as area career and technical schools.

All projects received funding through the CFA, an independent agency under Pennsylvania's Department of Community and Economic Development responsible for administering numerous economic development and community enhancement programs.
