FOIA Request to Somerset County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Laurel Highlands Today have sent a formal request to the Somerset County Election Department. The request, made under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The specifics of our request include a complete list of candidates with their first, middle and last names. We have also asked for details about the office each candidate is running for and its jurisdiction. Party affiliation of each candidate is another key piece of information we are seeking.
In addition to these basic details, we have requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to such records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. In line with this mission, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
We look forward to receiving this information from the Somerset County Election Department as it will greatly aid us in keeping the public informed about their potential representatives in the upcoming election.
