HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and Rep. Eric Davanzo (R-58) announced today that nearly $259,000 in funding was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for Westmoreland County community safety initiatives.
"Protecting our constituents is paramount, and it’s great to see this funding going toward not only safer roadways but equipment to aid those who serve our communities," Stefano said. "I’m pleased to work with Rep. Davanzo to secure these funds and help ensure safety for Scottdale residents."
The funding, approved by the CFA through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, will benefit Scottdale Borough in Westmoreland County. The borough will receive more than $159,000 for sidewalk and roadway improvements. Additionally, two grants through CFA’s Local Share Account program, funded by state gaming revenues, have been allocated to the borough.
A grant of nearly $67,800 will be used to purchase a Ford F-550 to replace the municipality's aging work vehicle, aiding in various maintenance, emergency response, and snow removal tasks. Another grant exceeding $32,100 will enable the Scottdale Fire Department to acquire self-contained breathing apparatus harness packs, enhancing firefighter safety, emergency response time, and compliance with safety regulations.
"Local Share Account funds are the results of casino revenue and many of these dollars are going to volunteer fire departments," Davanzo said. "I can think of no better way to invest these dollars than to assist those who are sacrificing their own safety for their neighbors."
The CFA, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, oversees the administration of the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
