Sen. Pat Stefano and Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa announced today that more than $701,500 in funding was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for transportation improvement projects in Fayette County.
Stefano expressed his gratitude for the funding, stating, “It’s a pleasure to see this much-needed funding come to Fayette County to make our roads and walkways safer. I’m grateful that Rep. Krupa and I were able to work together to secure these grants to offset the costs associated with the work that needs to be completed.”
The grants, approved by the CFA through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, will benefit Henry Clay Township and South Union Township. Henry Clay Township will receive $400,000 for the reconstruction and resurfacing of Sugarloaf Road, while South Union Township will receive more than $301,500 to install lighting along a section of the Sheepskin Trail.
Grimm Krupa highlighted the impact of the funding on the community, saying, “Winter is behind us, so it’s time to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. This funding will help drivers in Henry Clay Township and walkers and bikers on the Sheepskin trail do just that!”
The CFA, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages. The Multimodal Transportation Fund awards support the development, rehabilitation, and enhancement of transportation assets, including streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets, and transit-oriented development.
