In a joint announcement, Representatives Ryan Warner and Charity Grimm Krupa revealed that fire and ambulance companies in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, will be receiving $638,560 in state grants. The grants are intended to support the important public safety mission of these organizations.

Warner expressed his gratitude for the dedicated service of fire and emergency personnel, stating, "We are blessed by the outstanding fire and emergency service personnel who selflessly serve our communities, protecting lives and property." He also highlighted the financial challenges faced by these organizations and emphasized that the grants aim to alleviate some of those difficulties.

Krupa echoed Warner's sentiments, recognizing the crucial role played by emergency responders in their communities. She said, "Without question, our emergency responders are counted among our greatest hometown heroes." Krupa also praised the zero federal strings-attached grant program that allows local fire and ambulance companies to ensure their safety, preparedness, and organizational survival.

The grants are part of an ongoing program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. It is important to note that all of the funding for these grants comes from the proceeds of slot machine gaming, rather than General Fund tax revenue.

The grants can be used for various purposes, including the construction or renovation of fire or ambulance company facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, recruitment and retention, or debt repayment. To receive their funding, each organization must file a grant agreement with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

The grants were distributed to numerous fire and ambulance companies in Fayette County, with amounts ranging from $10,000 to $16,951.99. Some of the recipients include the Adah Volunteer Fire Department, Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, Brownsville Ambulance Service Inc., and Brownsville Fire Company No. 1.

This funding will undoubtedly provide a significant boost to these organizations, allowing them to enhance their capabilities and continue serving the community. The grants demonstrate the commitment of the Pennsylvania Legislature to supporting the vital work of fire and ambulance companies.

As Representative Warner summarized, "These grants not only show our appreciation but also aim to relieve some of the financial challenges facing these organizations." Representative Krupa added, "I am thankful to see this funding returning to our area in a way that benefits and helps to protect every person across Fayette County."

The distribution of these grants underscores the importance of recognizing and supporting the essential services provided by fire and ambulance companies. The dedication and sacrifice of the men and women in these organizations are truly commendable, and their efforts deserve our unwavering support.
