Sen. Pat Stefano and Rep. Ryan Warner have announced that over $1.3 million in funding has been awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support water, sewer, and arts projects in Fayette County. The grants will help alleviate the financial burden on residents and ensure critical work is completed without additional costs.
One of the recipients of the funding is the Dunbar Township Municipal Authority, which received $170,445 for its Mechanical Screen Replacement project through the Small Water and Sewer (SWS) Program. This program provides grants for small water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Sen. Stefano expressed his satisfaction with the grant, stating, "Costs to maintain necessary infrastructure can be burdensome for residents without grant funding, so I am pleased that we were able to secure this money."
Additionally, the North Fayette County Municipal Authority received over $1.1 million for a water distribution system improvement project in Connellsville City through the H2O PA program. This program, established by the General Assembly in 2008, provides grants for various projects related to drinking water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, flood control, and dam repair or rehabilitation.
Rep. Warner emphasized the significance of these investments in supporting public health and enhancing the quality of life in the community. "It is great to see these types of investments being made in our communities to support public health and the quality of life we enjoy here," he said. "I was happy to work with Sen. Stefano to ensure these projects received the funding they needed."
In addition to the infrastructure projects, the Fayette County Cultural Trust received $17,706 in funding for operating costs for the Military Museum in Connellsville City. This funding comes from the PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program, which aims to support nonprofit arts and culture organizations, local arts and culture districts, and arts and culture professionals in their recovery efforts post-pandemic.
The grants provided by the Commonwealth Financing Authority will play a crucial role in improving the infrastructure, supporting the arts, and enhancing the overall well-being of Fayette County. The state's commitment to investing in these projects demonstrates its dedication to the prosperity of local communities.
