Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and Rep. Jesse Topper (R-78) have announced that more than $1.2 million in funding has been awarded for water and sewer projects in Bedford County, according to the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

The Woodbury Water Authority will receive $523,602 for the replacement of a water transmission line in Woodbury Borough and Woodbury Township through the H2O PA program. This program was established by the General Assembly in 2008 and provides grants for various infrastructure projects, including drinking water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer projects. It also covers the construction or renovation of flood control projects and the repair or rehabilitation of high-hazard unsafe dams.

"The importance of reliable water and sewer service doesn't often cross our minds until we no longer have access. I am proud to have secured this funding to improve the daily lives of Bedford County residents," said Sen. Stefano.

Rep. Topper also emphasized the significance of infrastructure improvement projects in Pennsylvania. He stated, "Infrastructure improvement projects make Pennsylvania's communities more appealing for businesses, spurring on economic development while also improving the lives of residents. These projects accomplish both goals and I thank the CFA for recognizing their importance."

The funding for these projects comes from the Commonwealth Financing Authority's Small Water and Sewer (SWS) Program. This program provides grants for small water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Municipalities and municipal authorities that own and maintain a public water supply, sanitary sewer, or stormwater system are eligible to apply, as long as their projects exceed a total cost of $30,000.

Investing in water and sewer infrastructure is crucial for the well-being and growth of communities. It ensures that residents have access to clean and reliable water, and it supports economic development by attracting businesses to the area. The grants provided by the CFA will contribute to the improvement of Bedford County's infrastructure and the enhancement of the daily lives of its residents.
