Rep. Ryan Warner and Sen. Pat Stefano have announced the allocation of $650,000 in state funding for the Brownsville Water Street Redevelopment Project. The funding aims to support the renovation of the former Brownsville Telegraph building into a multi-use facility.

Warner expressed enthusiasm for the development, stating, "It is always encouraging to see new and innovative spaces being developed in our communities, and this project certainly fits the bill." He added that he is eager to see how it will benefit residents as well as business and community leaders.

Stefano also shared his excitement about the project, saying, "I’m thrilled to see this funding go to a project that will transform a historic building and revitalize commerce in Brownsville." He emphasized that the facility would serve as an intersection of industry, recreation, and creativity aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs.

The redevelopment will include a three-story building featuring maker space, retail areas, and a greenhouse. The first floor will offer open-air seating and café space within a shipping container setup. The second floor is planned as an open office area with facilities for restrooms and storage within shipping containers. The third floor will host an open roof deck alongside a greenhouse.

Funding was secured through the Capital Budget Project Itemization Act and distributed via the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). RACP is managed by the Office of the Budget for projects with significant regional impact that promote economic activity through employment or tax revenue increases.
