After being denied the opportunity to speak during a swearing-in ceremony, Representative Charity Grimm Krupa from Fayette expressed her concerns regarding the process used to select the new Speaker of the House. In her statement, Rep. Grimm Krupa highlighted the lack of transparency in the verbal vote conducted during the event.

"I understand that yesterday was not an ordinary day on the floor of the House," she stated, acknowledging the ceremonial nature of the occasion. However, she criticized the use of a simple 'yay or nay' vote for such an important decision, arguing it "lacks the transparency taxpayers deserve."

Rep. Grimm Krupa attempted to request a roll-call vote to register her opposition but was ignored. She noted that other Republicans were also denied their right to speak on this issue. "I get that it was not an ordinary session day," she said, emphasizing that each representative serves over 60,000 residents and should have their votes accurately recorded.

She stressed the importance of parliamentary procedure in fulfilling constitutional duties and questioned whether these duties should be suspended due to special occasions on the House floor.
