Senator Pat Stefano and Representative Carl Walker Metzgar will host a breakfast to honor veterans for their service. The event is scheduled for November 8 at the Somerset American Legion Post 181, located at 126 Main St. in Somerset. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., with breakfast served at 9 a.m.

“I look forward to this event every year, as it’s a great way for us to personally thank our dedicated veterans for their service and the sacrifices they have made for our country,” Stefano said. “It also gives us an opportunity to talk to veterans about the issues that are important to them and ensure that their voices are heard.”

The breakfast aims to connect local veterans with each other and inform them about state-level assistance available through the senator's and representative's offices.

The guest speaker will be Sgt. Ret. Jacob Whipkey, a Boswell native who served two tours during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Whipkey received the Purple Heart Medal due to injuries sustained under fire in Samara, which led to his retirement. He now works with the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation.

“I am honored to host this breakfast in recognition of our veterans, whose courage and sacrifice have shaped our nation,” Metzgar said. “It’s a privilege to gather together, celebrate their service and reaffirm our commitment to supporting them every day.”

Veterans can attend the breakfast free of charge but must register by contacting Stefano’s office at 814-443-2053 or Metzgar’s office at 814-443-4230.
