HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and Rep. Jesse Topper (R-78) announced more than $365,700 in funding distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) was awarded to Bedford Township to replace the bridge on Sweet Root Road over Shobers Run.
"I’m glad to have worked with Rep. Topper to secure these funds for this necessary bridge replacement in a high-traffic area," expressed Stefano. He further emphasized, “Commitment to investing in vital infrastructure projects leads to safer roads for residents and visitors.”
The funding, approved by the CFA through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, is aimed at assisting with a vital transportation improvement project in Bedford Township. Topper highlighted the significance of the grant, stating, “This grant funding will assist with a much-needed transportation improvement project in Bedford Township. Replacing aging bridges is paramount in ensuring safe means of travel while also spurring on economic growth.” He also praised the Commonwealth Financing Authority, saying, “I applaud the Commonwealth Financing Authority for recognizing the importance of funding this project.”
The CFA, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages. The Multimodal Transportation Fund awards may be utilized for the development, rehabilitation, and enhancement of transportation assets, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets, and transit-oriented development.
