HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset) have announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has awarded over $2 million in grants to four projects in Fayette County. The funding will be crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

One of the projects receiving funding is the H2O PA – Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Projects Program. This program, funded by the COVID-19 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), aims to uphold and exceed sanitation standards for the residents. Rep. Metzgar emphasized the importance of clean water, stating, “Pennsylvanians must have access to safe, clean water. This funding is crucial to uphold and exceed standards for the sanitation, protection, and well-being of our communities.”

The Confluence Borough Municipal Authority will receive $921,173 to assist with a new water system connection. Sen. Stefano expressed his excitement for the assistance, recognizing the significance of safe and reliable water for public health. He stated, “Safe, reliable water is paramount to public health, so I am excited to see this assistance come to Confluence Borough. Replacing and rehabilitating these older systems is a vital measure to prevent waste and accessibility issues in the future.”

The second set of funding comes from the COVID-19 ARPA funds to the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program. This program allocates funding for the construction, improvement, expansion, rehabilitation, or repair of water supply systems, sanitary sewer systems, and stormwater system projects. The grants awarded to these projects will further enhance the infrastructure and accessibility of water resources in Fayette County.

The grants awarded by the CFA will greatly contribute to the development and maintenance of essential water systems in Fayette County. These projects will ensure that residents have access to safe and clean water, promoting public health and well-being.
