State Senator Pat Stefano | Pennsylvania
The application period for Pennsylvania's Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is now open, and Senator Pat Stefano is reminding constituents that his district offices are available to assist with the application process. The program has expanded eligibility requirements, allowing more Pennsylvanians to receive rebates and alleviate the burden of excessive property taxes.
"This is the first time the program has been expanded since 2006. With this, more Pennsylvanians will now receive the rebate to alleviate the burden of excessive property taxes and put money back into their pockets," said Stefano. "My office is happy to assist anyone with questions about the program and those looking to apply."
The program's new income limit is $45,000 a year for both homeowners and renters. It is important to note that only half of Social Security income is included in the calculations. Additionally, the maximum rebate amount has been raised from $650 to $1,000.
To have their applications completed, constituents can make an appointment at the district office locations. The required information to apply includes:
- Proof of age
- Proof of disability, if applicable
- Proof of income
- Proof of rent or property tax paid
Application booklets are expected to be available in the office around mid-February. The Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate program is open to Pennsylvania residents who are 65 or older, widows and widowers who are 50 or older, or anyone over the age of 18 who is 100% disabled.
It is important to submit applications by June 30, as the Department of Revenue evaluates the program before the deadline every year. If there are extra funds available, the deadline may be extended.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, constituents can contact Amanda Cuteri at 717-787-7175.
