Windber Area Middle School recently issued the following announcement.
Led by coach Steve Slatcoff, the Ramblers will enter the state playoffs on Wednesday against Lancaster Mennonite. The Windber Boys’ finished a productive regular season with a record of 16-8 and a second-place finish in the District 5 Playoffs.
After a 61-48 home win over McConnellsburg in the opening game of the state playoffs, the Ramblers are rolling on with high hopes. Windber’s 1,000 point scoring senior powerhouse Keith Charney will lead them. Averaging around 14 points per game, Charney is coming off a stellar senior season to top off quite the high school career for the Ramblers. He is the first male athlete to accomplish the feat since his coach did in 2003.
Right alongside Charney are seniors Aiden Gray and Caden Dusack. Gray and Dusack average 8 points and 13 points per game respectively. Defensively, the Ramblers are solid, with big men like John Shuster and Blake Klosky on the floor. Windber has been a well disciplined defensive team all season.
Coming off the bench are seniors Dylan Evans and Aiden James, who play their roles to the letter. An up and coming star for the Ramblers this season has been freshman Grady Klosky, younger brother of Blake. The young Klosky plays stellar defense, and has a talent for finding rebounds. The future is definitely bright for him.
The Ramblers will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday as they travel to Lancaster to take on the Blazers. Tip-off is set for 6pm Wednesday evening.
