On June 12, 2024, the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee voted in favor of two bills sponsored by committee chairman Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32). Senate Bill 1251 aims to align Pennsylvania Nursing Law with federal regulations. Currently, the law only recognizes regionally accredited educational institutions as eligible to offer registered nurse (RN) education programs. The proposed bill would allow both regionally and nationally accredited schools in Pennsylvania to offer RN programs.
