Rep. Ryan Warner, a Republican from Fayette, expressed his opposition to the proposed $50.6 billion state budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year. After casting a ‘no’ vote, Warner criticized the budget process and the spending plan put forth by House Democrats.

Warner stated that despite five months since the governor presented his budget proposal and four months since the conclusion of budget hearings, negotiations had not led to a reasonable outcome. He accused majority House Democrats of rushing to vote on a costly plan that could lead to tax increases in the future.

He also voiced concerns about transparency and public involvement in the budgeting process, saying it was disrespectful to present such a significant financial plan without adequate opportunity for taxpayer review and feedback.
