Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar and Sen. Pat Stefano have announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has approved state grants exceeding $1 million for Somerset County. The funding aims to support local infrastructure projects.
“These projects are a great step to ensuring the well-being of Somerset County residents is protected,” said Metzgar. He expressed gratitude for the investments made into communities, which he believes will enhance both work and leisure activities.
Sen. Stefano shared similar sentiments, stating, “I’m proud to see this funding go toward projects that are improving infrastructure and enhancing safety in our communities." He emphasized that these investments will strengthen communities, promote local economic growth, and improve neighborhood walkability and vibrancy, thus enhancing the quality of life throughout Somerset County.
The CFA has allocated $842,510 to Berlin Borough for the final phase of sidewalk rehabilitation along Main Street. Additionally, Jennerstown Borough will receive $245,607 for streetscape and walkway improvements throughout the borough.
This funding is part of the Multimodal Transportation Fund managed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The fund supports economic development initiatives and ensures a safe and reliable transportation system across Pennsylvania.
