Senator Pat Stefano and Representative Charity Grimm Krupa have announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has awarded state grants totaling nearly $2.9 million. The funding is intended for essential equipment and infrastructure improvements in Fayette County.
“I’m grateful to see this funding go toward essential equipment and infrastructure improvements that will expand our municipalities’ ability to operate more effectively and efficiently," stated Stefano. "Funding these critical projects will not only enhance public safety and environmental protection but further improve the quality of life for the residents of Fayette County."
The grants are part of the CFA’s Local Share Account (LSA) Program, which supports projects in public interest, community improvement, and economic development using gaming revenue from casinos.
Specific allocations include $420,030 to Fairchance Borough for dam analysis and breach work on Askon Hollow and Cave Hollow dams in Georges Township. Fayette County received $82,600 to acquire a ChemProX Meter for Uniontown City's Hazmat Response Team. The National Pike Water Authority was granted $103,402 for planning the Kulp Road Waterline Extension project in Markleysburg. North Union Township was allocated $359,660 to build the West Leisenring Community Access Bridge.
Springhill Township received $500,000 for road slide repairs on Nilan Road and Fancy Hill Road. State Line Municipal Service Authority obtained $300,000 for a water distribution system upgrade project in Point Marion Borough. Wharton Township was given $200,000 to purchase a broom badger for its public works department.
“Whether it’s a new roof for an elementary school or a new municipal street sweeper, each of these projects will help make life a little better for the residents of southwestern Pennsylvania,” commented Grimm Krupa.
Additionally, through the CFA’s Public School Facilities Improvement Grant (PSFIG) Program, Laurel Highlands School District secured $897,500 for replacing Marshall Elementary School's roof due to its deteriorating condition.
The CFA operates as an independent agency within Pennsylvania's Department of Community and Economic Development.
