Senator Pat Stefano and Representative Jesse Topper have announced that Bedford County will receive over $8.6 million in state assistance for several improvement projects. The funding comes from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) board.
The Woodbury Water Authority is set to receive $984,768 for a waterline replacement project on Mill Street in Woodbury Borough and Township. This involves installing approximately 2,850 feet of various diameter waterlines.
Saxton Borough Municipal Authority has been awarded $632,000 for improvements to its power plant road lift station. The project includes constructing a new wastewater pump station and reconfiguring existing plumbing.
Schellsburg Municipal Authority will receive $1.7 million to replace an outdated sewage pump station with a new one, along with installing about 1,500 feet of replacement force main and additional equipment.
Bedford Borough Municipal Authority is granted $5.26 million for storm sewer improvements on the South Side. This project involves installing approximately 6,275 feet of stormwater pipe and other necessary infrastructure.
“Projects such as these are necessary to improve the critical services our municipalities provide and the quality of life for our residents,” Stefano stated.
“This funding will help our local municipalities take on vital improvement projects that will benefit residents,” Topper added.
PENNVEST offers low-cost financial aid to address issues related to water management that affect public health, safety, environmental compliance, and economic development.
