More than $367,000 in state funding has been allocated to two infrastructure projects in southern Fayette County, according to an announcement from Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette).

Smithfield Borough will receive $300,000 for the replacement of sidewalks and crosswalks on Morgantown and Liberty streets. The funds come from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which supports economic development and aims to maintain a safe transportation system for residents across Pennsylvania.

The Menallen Township Sewer Authority is set to receive over $67,000 to clean two sequencing batch reactor tanks as part of its wastewater treatment operations. This funding is provided by the PA Small Water and Sewer Program, which helps with improvements or repairs to water supply systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewers, or flood control projects.

“These projects represent two important parts of our communities,” Grimm Krupa said. “The first project ensures safety and walkability for pedestrians in Smithfield, while the second ensures the wastewater system in Menallen Township stays in working order. I’m glad we were able to bring this funding back to these important projects here in Fayette County.”
