More than $533,000 in state funding has been allocated to various projects in Fayette County, according to an announcement by Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette). The funds, distributed through the Local Share Account (LSA) and the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP), will support infrastructure improvements and recreational initiatives across several municipalities.

The LSA grants, which are financed by gaming revenues, include $50,000 for the Fairchance Georges Joint Municipal Sewage Authority. This grant will be used for a Geographic Information System (GIS) condition assessment and asset inventory of the sanitary sewer system in Fairchance Borough. The transition from paper records to a digital system aims to improve maintenance processes and reduce emergency repairs.

The Fayette County Redevelopment Authority, on behalf of the Uniontown YMCA, received $163,530 to construct four new multiuse recreational courts at the YMCA campus in South Union Township. The project includes fencing, court equipment, and a shaded pavilion.

German Township Sewer Authority was awarded two grants: $85,000 in LSA-Statewide funds for specialized brush and side mowers to maintain sewer rights-of-way more efficiently; and $34,944 for a sewer jetter with an integrated camera system to clean and inspect expanding sewer lines within German Township.

Rep. Grimm Krupa stated: “Investing in our infrastructure is essential to protecting public health, supporting economic growth, and ensuring our communities can plan for the future. These grants will help local authorities modernize sewer systems, improve maintenance efficiency, and expand recreational opportunities without placing additional burdens on local taxpayers.”

Additionally, Fayette County secured $100,000 from GTRP funding for designing a new walking trail at German Masontown Park in Masontown Borough and German Township. The grant will cover preliminary and final engineering design work for an interloop trail intended to promote outdoor recreation and increase activity near local businesses.

“These projects reflect the priorities I hear from constituents every day – safe infrastructure, strong local services, and accessible places for families to gather and stay active,” said Grimm Krupa. “I am proud to support funding that strengthens communities across Fayette County.”

Both LSA and GTRP programs are managed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority with the goal of supporting infrastructure upgrades as well as recreation and community enhancement efforts throughout Pennsylvania.
