School Police Officer:

We are excited to announce the Rockwood Area School District has taken action to improve safety in the District by adding an additional layer of security to protect our most valuable asset, our students and staff.  This past Thursday, the Somerset County Court of Common Pleas authorized the establishment of a School Police Officer position in the District.  In addition, Officer Jeffrey Doman was sworn in as the District’s new School Police Officer. Officer Doman will be on duty starting next week.  Officer Doman is authorized to enforce good order in school buildings, on school buses, and on school grounds in the Rockwood Area School District.  He is also authorized to issue summary citations and to detain individuals who are in school buildings, on school buses, or on school grounds in the Rockwood Area School District until local law enforcement is notified.  Furthermore, Officer Doman is authorized to carry a firearm in connection with the fulfillment of his duties as a school police officer in the Rockwood Area School District.In addition to his law enforcement duties, Officer Doman will serve as a mentor and role model for our students.  Students and staff can expect to see Officer Doman in offices, classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, lobbies, gyms, and on school buses.Officer Doman is a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper and Somerset County Detective.  He also previously coached in the Rockwood Area School District.We are excited to welcome Officer Doman back to the District.
