Rep. Ryan Warner, a Republican from Fayette, has voiced his opposition to the proposed $50.6 billion state budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Warner expressed his concerns following a vote against the budget proposal.
“It’s been FIVE months since the governor outlined his budget proposal for the 2025-26 fiscal year and FOUR months since budget hearings concluded,” Warner stated. He criticized the majority House Democrats for calling a vote on what he describes as an overly costly spending plan without sufficient negotiation or collaboration.
Warner further argued that the budget lacks transparency and does not provide taxpayers with an opportunity to review or offer feedback on it. “Quite honestly, it’s insulting to the people of this Commonwealth to put forth a budget with virtually no opportunity for them to review it and offer feedback. Where is the transparency?” he remarked.
Warner’s statement concludes with his disapproval of how the budgeting process was handled, stating, “This isn’t the way to govern.”
