Fire and ambulance companies in Fayette County will receive a total of $658,451 in state grants, according to an announcement from Representatives Ryan Warner and Charity Grimm Krupa. The funding is intended to help local first responders maintain their public safety operations.
“Our first responders are the backbone of community safety,” said Representative Charity Grimm Krupa. “This investment ensures EMTs, paramedics and firefighters have the resources to stay prepared. When they succeed, all of Fayette County benefits.”
Representative Ryan Warner added, “Our communities are so blessed by the outstanding fire and emergency services personnel who selflessly serve our region, protecting lives and property. These grants not only show our appreciation but also aim to relieve some of the financial challenges facing these organizations.”
The grants come from a program created by the Pennsylvania Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency along with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. Funding for these grants is generated from slot machine gaming revenue rather than general tax funds.
The money can be used for construction or renovation projects at fire or ambulance company facilities, equipment purchases or repairs, training programs, recruitment and retention efforts, or debt payments. Organizations must file a grant agreement with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner to receive their funding.
Among those receiving funds are Adah Volunteer Fire Department ($25,663.17), Brownsville Ambulance Service ($15,000), Farmington Volunteer Fire Department ($16,136.55), Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department ($15,312.09), Smock Volunteer Fire Department ($15,518.21), as well as dozens of other local fire departments across Fayette County.
Representative Warner serves as state representative for Pennsylvania’s 52nd Legislative District and advocates for policies supporting public safety and economic development in his district (https://repwarner.com/about). He has also championed fiscal measures such as the Taxpayer Protection Act aimed at capping state spending growth (https://repwarner.com/about). In addition to his legislative duties focused on community safety and economic policy (https://repwarner.com/about), Warner chairs the PA Legislative Sportsmen Caucus and sits on several key committees (https://repwarner.com/about).
Both Warner and Grimm Krupa emphasized that supporting local emergency services remains a priority for their offices.
