Fire and ambulance companies in Fayette County will receive a total of $658,451 in state grants, according to an announcement from Representatives Ryan Warner and Charity Grimm Krupa. The funding aims to support the work of emergency responders throughout the county.
Charity Grimm Krupa stated, “Our first responders are the backbone of community safety. This investment ensures EMTs, paramedics and firefighters have the resources to stay prepared. When they succeed, all of Fayette County benefits.”
Ryan Warner added, “Our communities are so blessed by the outstanding fire and emergency services personnel who selflessly serve our region, protecting lives and property. These grants not only show our appreciation but also aim to relieve some of the financial challenges facing these organizations.”
The grant program is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC), with funds coming from slot machine gaming revenue rather than general tax funds. Grants can be used for facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training, recruitment and retention efforts, or debt reduction. Each recipient must file a grant agreement with OSFC before receiving funds.
Among those receiving funding are Adah Volunteer Fire Department ($25,663.17), Brownsville Ambulance Service ($15,000), Farmington Volunteer Fire Department ($16,136.55), Smock Volunteer Fire Department ($15,518.21), Union Hose Company No. 1 Volunteer Fire Company ($14,487.63), and several others across Fayette County.
