Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa announced on Apr. 15 that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has awarded a low-interest loan of $7.1 million to the Greater Uniontown Joint Sewage Plant Authority for a water infrastructure project.

The funding will support the replacement of the authority’s ultraviolet (UV) system, including modifications to existing channels, construction of new dual parallel UV channels, installation of two new UV systems, and other related improvements such as a new flow splitter box and updated electrical service. The existing UV system will be demolished once the new equipment is operational.

“This funding is crucial to help move this project forward,” Grimm Krupa said. “This support makes a real difference for the greater Uniontown area, giving people the safe, reliable infrastructure they deserve. We’re excited to put these dollars to work and deliver improvements that will last well into the future.”

Krupa holds the position of Pennsylvania State Representative for the 51st Legislative District, according to the official website. She lives on a farm with her husband and three children according to her official biography. Her background includes degrees from Penn State and West Virginia College of Law as reported by her office, experience as an assistant Fayette County public defender and private attorney specializing in civil rights litigation according to her official website, as well as serving on the Gallatin School Board according to her biography.

PENNVEST was established in 1988 and funds drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects across Pennsylvania.
