A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on October 22, 2024. The request was made by us at Laurel Highlands Today, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request, made under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., asked for all arrest records from January 1, 2024, to the present day. The requested data points include arrestee name, sex, race, age, date of birth (DOB), citizenship status, booking ID, date of arrest, booking photo, names of arresting officers, type of crime committed, location of crime and date of crime.

As a media organization focused on transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We are hopeful that the requested information will be provided without any fees as we qualify for a fee waiver being a media professional.

We await the response from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and remain committed to providing our readers with accurate and comprehensive coverage of local governmental affairs.
