County of Fayette issued the following announcement on Sept. 1.

Applications are due by October 1.

Go Laurel Highlands (formerly the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau) has opened its Fayette County Tourism Grant Program for the 2021-22 cycle. Applications are now available on the Go Laurel Highlands website, with a submission deadline of October 1. 

The program has awarded more than $5 million to various local and regional organizations since its inception in 2008. Its purpose is to increase tourism and enhance visitors’ experiences in Fayette County. 

As part of a memorandum of understanding between the Fayette County Board of Commissioners and Go Laurel Highlands, the program is funded through a portion of the county’s hotel room rental excise tax.
